The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is the game that has a lot to live up to. The fallow-up to which many say is the best game of all time (Ocarina of Time), The product of the best development team ever assembled, and the first and greatest launch title ever released. Sadly this game faced a yearlong delay, but worry not. This game lives up to everything I just said.
This game’s outset is placed in the distant peaceful Ordona province out side of Hyrule. You are asked to make a delivery to Hyrule with your horse Epona (note: you have the choice to name the horse what you wish). When you try to get your horse from the spring you and your friends are attacked by boar creatures. The story goes on from there and you find yourself in the twilight world (not my site). This story is full of beautiful cut scenes and plot twists. Also I believe it’s the most dark and deep story in the series.
There has been plenty of belly acing over the control scheme. A lot of people say they will just buy the GameCube version even though they have the Wii. You people who I just mentioned are complete morons. This is the best control scheme in Legend of Zelda history. It builds on that control that was made famous in Ocarina but instead of sword slashes being triggered by a button it is actually activated by making a subtle slash with the Wii-mote. I found this to be very intuitive and it makes you feel like your more of the action. The aiming is what slams the GCN version in the ground. It is the most precise aiming in a Zelda game I have ever experienced. When I went to play Wind Waker for old times sake I couldn’t live with analog stick aiming. It was so inaccurate when compared to this.
Some people also worried about the wolf transformation. Well don’t worry. Most segments happen early in the game and Link’s move transition well to the wolf. Plus, after the first three dungeons you ca shift at will.
The characters in this Zelda are very deep in their design. Midna at the beginning makes you think she has her own agenda but as the game progresses she becomes more troubled and actually needs Links help.
The graphics are beautiful, the best seen on any Nintendo game up to this point. Even though they look better then any of the other Launch games artistically these graphics are still Game Cube graphics and you can see that. Sure I would have loved to see true Wii graphics at work (Super Smash Bros. Brawl) but this at its core a Game Cube game. They just ported it over to Wii to improve the control and they did.
